Description

All are welcome to the second annual ‘Tackling Food Poverty in Leicester’ event on Wednesday 22nd of February. We will be looking back at progress made in the last year and identifying how the sector can work together to tackle the increasing demand we all face.

A buffet Lunch will be provided.

Provisional Programme:

We’ll be discussing the results of the Annual Food Bank User Survey and review the progress that has been made since last year’s event. There will be opportunities to hear from experts in their fields and to share your own views on important topics, including:

• What are the key priorities to tackle Food Poverty in the City

• The City Council’s new Emergency Food Plan

• Developing a sustainable and affordable Food Project for the City

• The impact of welfare reform on the City and how to meet the challenges.

The event will be attended by Cllr Waddington, Assistant Mayor for Jobs and Skills and other key City Council officers.

There will also be a presentation by Rosie Oglesby, National Director of Feeding Britain. Feeding Britain was established to implement the main recommendations made by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hunger. It is Chaired by Frank Field MP and its' objective is to work towards a hunger-free United Kingdom by 2020. www.feeding-britain.org
